GLOBAL STANDARDS ASSOCIATE

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree with a minimum of eight years of experience in engineering or other scientific discipline, standards management or a related technical environment.
This position requires strong organizational, interpersonal, facilitative and program management skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. A demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize complex issues and their broader implications for less technical audiences is essential. Proficient with the English language, and fluency in local language required.
The position also requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, work in an entrepreneurial environment, operate with latitude for un- reviewed actions or decisions, and resolve problems without assistance when appropriate.
Should have a broad understanding of petroleum industry operations including knowledge of exploration and production operations, the oil refining industry, oil and gas pipeline operations and petroleum measurement. Should also be familiar with appropriate global standards bodies and possess a familiarity with the work and organization of these groups such as ANSI, ASME, ASTM, IEEE, ISA, IEC/ISO, AGA and GPA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

-Provide policy and promotional guidance and technical and administrative support for assigned region in support of API International Standards Strategy.
-Provide coordination with national and independent oil companies and other standards and conformity assessment organizations to promote the acceptance and use of API standards.
-Provide support for visits, meetings and seminars conducted by API.
-Provide background information needed for API staff to pursue collaboration independently.
-Perform other key tasks such as coordinating with partners on translation of API standards, recruiting local experts to serve on API standards technical committees, communication to partners on the efficacy of APIs standards, accompanying local experts to the United States, briefing API head office staff on local activities, and finding opportunities to ratify MOUs with national and independent oil companies and other organizations.
-Provide regular written reports of issues of interest to API and its affiliates.
